Newport RI in December

I had to go to Newport this past week for work. The weather was a balmy 50.

As you can imagine, during the summer this beach is packed.

On this day there was me, the seagull and a jogger.

I took this picture first and the shadows cast by the clouds were dark.

I took this picture within seconds of taking the picture above.

If you ever get the chance to go to Newport during the summer, then take advantage of the beaches, tours, food and bars. It is a beautiful place to visit.

    1. Hello RD......it was and continues to be a vacation spot for the wealthy.

Back in the day the Vanderbilt family had a summer "cottage" called The Breakers here. Many other wealthy people during that time had summer "cottages" in Newport also.

My wife and I visited The Breakers one weekend several years back.
Here is a link to check out the mansions: http://www.newportmansions.org.

Also, Newport is one of the stops for the America Cup.

The Tennis Hall of Fame is located here.

If you are ever out this way, then you should visit Newport. If you come during the fall, then you could even fly-fish for striper in the Atlantic Ocean.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Hi Savage.....I actually thought that you or Alan would have been here before.

I was hoping to get down there this fall but Sandy put an end to that trip.

    1. Thanks Alan.

One of these days I am going to use my Nikon instead of the Blackberry.

Newport in the Spring or Fall is also nice if you wanted to avoid the crowds.
