Trying to live up to the name.......

Before this weekend, I haven't fished because of the heat; however, this weekend I was able to get out to do a little fishing.

Yesterday my brother-in-law, my nephew and my nephew's son and I went fishing. We brought some worms along so my nephew's son (he is five) wouldn't be discouraged if the bass didn't join in on the fun. It turned out to be a good idea because the Blue Gills hit the worms the second they hit the water. The little guy was ecstatic and wanted to go back fishing later the night. I didn't have my camera but my nephew got pictures. Here is a an old picture of the pond where we fished.

My brother-in-law decided that we were going to do some striper fishing and we made plans to go the next morning (Sunday). I picked him up at 0600 and off we went to Deer Island. We didn't catch anything but it was nice to be out fishing and it was cooler along the shore.
That is my brother-in-law with Boston in the background (Dunkin Donuts in the foreground).

After we finished fishing, we took a ride along the beach and came upon the remaining sand sculptures from an event held last weekend. Here are some pictures of the better ones.

  1. Good to hear you are still getting out....worm fishing with young ones is as good as it gets sometimes. I need to get out with my son again soon.

  2. Hi Mike....fishing with the kids reminds me of when I brought my sons fishing. It is great stuff as you know so get out there. Heading to the Cape in August so I am going to do more fishing.

  3. It's good to see you're getting out Mac! Sometimes it's not about the fishing but about the sand castles...amazing.

  4. Deer Island is a huge waste water treatment plant. It provides a terrific service to the Boston area. Whats better is the island is open to the public for fishing!

  7. Hi Savage...you are right about Deer Island and it helped clean up the harbor. The water where we were was so crystal clear. When the state and feds did the Big Dig they used a lot of the fill to fix the other islands in Boston Harbor too and they now are a great resource for people to enjoy. You can hike, camp, kayak, etc. (my oldest son went there a few weeks ago). If you ever visit Boston, then you may want to put some time aside to visit. They are part of the National Park Service. Here is a link for them:http://www.nps.gov/boha/index.htm

  8. Quite the sculpture, no Shamrocks?

    That first photo, calendar material.

  9. Hi Alan...Revere is populated by your ancestors and not mine so that could be one of the reasons why there were no Shamrocks. :)

As for the picture, I got there one morning before my brother-in-law showed up and that duck got in the water and started swimming away so I snapped away with the camera. As the old saying goes, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

And that is mighty high praise about the picture considering all the wonderful pictures you take and all the compliments you get about them. I thank you very much.
