Salt water time........

It has been very hot and the water level very low so I haven't been to the river lately.

I bought my salt water license tonight and i am going striper fishing tomorrow morning a little north of Boston. High tide is mid-morning so I won't kill the whole day.

  1. Bill,
Don't give up on all the rivers. I was at the swift yesterday. The just stocked it and the flows were low. I caught about 10 but the more experienced guys were hauling in even more. The swift is cool all summer.

    Good luck in the salt.

    1. Hi Alan.....I have read some of his stuff. I found it while browsing the web over the winter.

I must confess that I didn't fly-fish. I used mackerel off the bottom.

      I got a bump but I didn't land him.

  4. If there is one fly tier that i draw a lot of inspiration from it is Jack Gartside. I dare you to ask around on the beach and find one person that DOES NOT have a gurgler in his/her fly box. Check out his flies. He used a lot of simple readily available materials. The flies themselves are easy, cheap to make, and effective, really effective!

    1. Hey Savage....I believe you.

His website is still active so you can buy his books, etc. Here is the link: http://www.jackgartside.com/

I plan on being at the beach, Deer Island or the water along he North Shore during the summer. I may visit the Swift River with Mike C for trout or head out to the Quabbin for bass with my brother-in-law.
