Ansel Adams

I haven't been fishing in some time due to the weather (raining) although I am taking my oldest son tomorrow to introduce him to fly-fishing.

The other thing we plan on doing is visiting an exhibit of Ansel Adams at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem  MA (yes that Salem MA of witch trials infamy).

Here is a story that appeared in the Boston Globe:  Ansel Adams

  1. He did a lot of good photos of Yosemite.

  2. Hi Mark.....I love his stuff out west so it will be nice to see his photos of the Cape.

I have been to Muir Woods and Muir Beach and he captured those places perfectly.

One of these days, I hope to get to Yosemite.

  3. Good luck fly fishing with your son. I hope you guys get out on the adventures you wrote about over the winter. Next time i am up at my in laws i may check the museum out.

  4. Thanks Savage.

He wants to learn and he asked about fishing tomorrow so I am encouraged that we will get out a few times during the summer and fall.

As for Salem, it is a pretty interesting place with a lot to do. When you are heading up let me know and I can tell you a few places to go.

  5. He was one hell of an artist.
I would give up a day of fishing to see the exhibit.

  6. When I took an art class in college the professor introduced us to Adams and Georgia O'Keefe and I have been grateful ever since.

If you have never been to Salem it is a small college town and it is surrounded by attractions, beaches, restaurants, etc. As I told Savage, if you decide to go let me know and I can give you local insight. My friends went to college there so I spent a fair amount of time in the area.

  7. Ansel Adams is one of my favorites. No captured Yosemite or anywhere in the west like Adams. Have a great time and down forget the sunscreen.

  8. Hey Howard.....Adams' work still inspires today.

Have a blast with your buddy.
