I was back in Portland today for work and got up there early to avoid the "leaf peekers".
As a result, before I made my way back I was able to stop at a nearby golf course (Nonesuch River) I have been to over the years. If you are ever in the Portland area and you like to golf, then you would enjoy yourself at this course. Here is a link:

The weather was beautiful so I decided to hit a bunch of golf balls (no Howard they never did anything to me to deserve it) instead of going to lunch. As I made my way to the range, I decided to check out the pond that I have passed so many times in the past; however, this time I was looking for fish, bugs and other signs of life. The pictures below tell a little bit of the story. The ninth hole is just beyond the pond.

I tried not to disturb the ducks to my right. |

It didn't work out as planned. |
|
They found a new resting place to soak up the sun. |

Another view of the pond as I was leaving. |
Off to a map and compass class nice and early tomorrow so I will have to wait until Sunday or Monday to try and get out to do some fishing.
Enjoy Columbus Day weekend and I hope the weather is nice where you are.
Mac, hit all the golf balls you like, I think they deserve it! Okay, now to the business at hand...golf course ponds are usually loaded with fish.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, there used to be ponds like that at all the golf courses in Florida. They always had a lot of fish in them and sometimes an alligator.

Hey Howard....there is a guy from MA on TV called the Mad Fisherman (Charlie Moore) and I have seen him fish these ponds sometimes when he is golfing with a guest on the show. I may have to get a collapsible rod to fish them too in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi Mark...as I was reading your comments I was thinking about alligators being in those waters. Did you ever get chased by one?
